I think that living a joyful life is a result of balancing your development of consciousness and energy so that they rise together. You need to embrace both the right and the left hand side.
In the beginning many of us are living lives that are somewhat chaotic and painful. We do most of our learning on the left hand side through karma. This is a result of having lots of energy that is stuck in the lower centres of the body. This energy is not being directed in conscious and loving ways so it creates suffering, and through that suffering we learn and grow. It works, but it is painful at times.
To escape from this pattern we turn to spirituality and yoga practices. We discover through meditation that we can be at peace and see the world in a whole new way. However, I think there is a strong possibility that many will become somewhat stuck on the right hand side of yoga practice. They use the right hand path to escape from the left.
However, in order to live a truly joyful life, you need to go back and re-engage with the left hand path again. You have to take the new depth of consciousness and self awareness that you have developed in meditation and connect it consciously with your sexual energy (Tantra) and your external life experience (Karma Yoga). Consciousness then tranforms those left hand experiences into higher expressions.
The left hand path can be chaotic and unpredictable. Energy is powerful and it is always moving. Sometimes it will move in ways that are uncomfortable. However, inner stillness gives you the sterngth and presence of self to let go of any ideas about how energy should flow and see the beauty in what it is doing. There is method to its madness. When you stop struggling with it, it can do beautiful things in your life. Karma can be a wonderful teacher when you stop fighting it and engage fully. You just allow the energy to darw your attention to where it needs to go. It shows you where healing is needed.
As Adyashanti says, it is all well and good to be awakened, but if you want to be truly free then you need to step back into your own two shoes and live. |

There's a saying I like, which your lovely post brings to mind: Let's live with our head in the clouds but our feet on the ground.
Surely, this is a 360-degree experience--this life, this path.
Thank you for sharing your perspective. Harmony. |
