Does anyone think mild herbal psychedelics can enhance meditation? I hear arguements on both sides. Like to hear from some real knowledgible peeps on this.
Thanks to all,
Larry

psychedelics are psychedelics..... mild or not
whereas meditation is going into deep inner silence...

Well when I used to get stoned it was like I was meditating!

But I don't need any supplement to help me meditate - it happens all by itself.

With all this inner silence and ecstacy running around the body it must be messing with our brain juice!? So, won't drugs interfere with that process?

Also aren't drugs artificial? They induce a state of mind which is after all just another illusion? To me it's making our job of purifying much harder.

The arguments are mostly the same. Drugs can help in the beginning phases to see what is possible, how the body mind can function.

They helped me to verify if spiritual practices work and where they can bring you to. And if you are honest, you will very fastly see the limitations of those substances. They can't show you everything, only as much as your brain, nervous system and the subtler bodies can handle (and this is not much). And whatever you see, understand, realize or whatever will go away together with the trip.

I have seen friends who got highly interested and openminded in what is possible, but very few of them started anything substantial. So the desire for the ultimate was already very strong in this body here, long before the substance tests and so the practices started.

Doing both in the longrun will make you see that the substance will start hindering you. In the beginning it may help but the moment the natural condition of body-mind is operating on the forced-level of the substance, the substance will lose its function. And beyond that, the karmic relationship around this kind of usage will have to be cleaned out aswell. If you have this already in you, to fullfill the wish for your highest ideal, no matter what and how long, than you can skip the tests and "save some time" ;) (Usually there are no shortcuts =P, but wish you the best =P)
