Expose yourself to your deepest fear;
After that, fear has no power,
And the fear of freedom shrinks and vanishes.
You are free.

Despite his massive consumption of drugs and alcohol, I think Mr. Morrison was certainly in touch with some deep wisdom. He just used the wrong fuel. That pure bliss consciousness never runs out.

Ewwww!!! Just the thought of it sends creeps up and down my spine.

Some people know their fears and avoid them.
Others like to confront their fears, but it takes years to figure out what your deepest fears are.
Both find out there is no easy way to freedom; consistent long term practice is best.

Face your fear and embrace it.
Embrace your fear and you find that you embrace yourself.
Embrace your fear with Love, after that it melts away.
Embrace your fear with Stillness, it can never touch you.
When fear is gone only you in your stillness remains.

What do you do when you don't know what the source of your fear is? What about people who are just afraid, but don't know of what, or why?

Funny how people are scared of heights. When you ask them: Have you ever been high up somewhere? they say: Never, because I am scared of heights! Eh?

When I think of fear the Fish Heads song by Barnes and Barnes springs to mind.

Is it really a good idea to tell people to expose themselves?

LOL, It didn't work out so well for Jim in Florida though.

I like this litany from Dune by Frank Herbert:

"I must not fear.
Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear.
I will permit it to pass over me and through me.
And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
Where the fear has gone there will be nothing.
Only I will remain."

If we consider the "I" that remains to be pure bliss consciousness, as opposed to the body/mind, then I find this incantation to be a playful form of self-inquiry/affirmation.
