Hi, What does this line mean?

"At the start of sexual union, keep attention on the fire in the beginning, and, so continuing, avoid the embers in the end."

For those who do not recognize it, Yogani uses this 4000 year old quotation at the start of his Tantra book. I can say what it means to me.

"Fire at the beginning" is heightened pranic energy, and great sexual pleasure along with desire. "Embers at the end" is the calm that goes with a satisfaction of, or satiation of sexual desire after orgasm. Continuing in the fire and "avoiding" the embers is favoring pre-orgasmic pleasure, prolonging desire rather than rushing toward orgasm as a goal.

Sometimes when you hear a music/song, it fills you with an energy, your body wants/starts to dance with the rhythm.

Similar thing happens when you come in contact with your lover/partner. When you begin the sexual act, a fire starts burning in you. The sperms are doing disco on prana's beats.

The energy in you wants to merge/unite with your partner's. The energy, not you. Keep your attention on this desire of energy. This is the fire.

Its very hard to keep attention on this for long but with meditation and practice, you will become a master of it. Then the sexual act will take place and you will just watch/witness it.

Watch your body dancing with your partner like two waves dancing on the surface of an ocean.

Thanks Manigma. Can you please explain this line, "The energy in you wants to merge/unite with your partner's. The energy, not you."

Is it the Prana energy?

I don't know, it can be called life energy or shakti or prana.

When the sperm is ejaculated, the life energy/prana in you is used to build more sperm. This biological process requires your prana as the sperm in you is alive with life energy.
