When I asked Yogani about this he told me it is prana in the air and some ppl see it all the time, while some ppl see it only sometimes while some dont see at all. What are your experiences with this prana? Do you see it on any background or only white/fluroscent backgrounds and daylight? Being able to see them does it indicate any past life association with meditation?

What you're describing sounds more like eye floaters than prana, orgone, or anything else. They're bits of cellular debris, protein, and other cruft floating in the eye's vitreous body that occasionally pass just behind the pupil, casting a shadow onto the retina. It's because these object are *inside* your eyeball that they appear to dart away from your focal point when you move your eye to get a better look.
Most everyone who pays close enough attention will see floaters from time to time, but seeing a lot of them (and "a lot" is an intentionally loose term) can be indicative of chronic eye problems (e.g. macular degeneration) that deserve medical attention.

I have kind of a weird history with those white pixel-like things. That doesn't mean that I know squat about
What they are or mean technically, but I do see them often.
When I first began to acknowledge these "things," I was in college.about 17 or so, I had gotten into a habit
of falling asleep on the couch about midday. When I would wake, I'd lay there for a while in a lucid state. When I would
Finally open my eyes, I could see the little lights flowing.spinning around each other everywhere. At first I thought I was
having a flashback or something and shrugged it off. Over time, however, those little things kept dancing around everywhere if I
bothered to look.
Once when I was little I asked my mom what the fuzz around everyone was. She told me I was just seeing hair on them,
and being as young as I was I thought, "OK.everyone has about an inch or so of hair that floats about them. Gross, but whatever."
Ironically, my first thought was that this was not anything like the hair around people LOL. So really I began testing.could I see it fully
Awake.what if I pushed my eyes really hard with my fingers.*ouch* .no still there, maybe they are little bugs, and so on.
A couple of years ago I read something that talked about prana or "breath of god," and wondered if that was what I see. I still cannot answer if that is what it is, but I was glad to read that I wasn't the only weirdo who saw things like this. To answer some of your questions, I see it every time I bother to look. It's like looking out a window.depending on how I focus I either see what's beyond the window or if I look just right, the window itself. Background doesn't matter at all.
In my mind I remember them always moving in a clockwise motion, but looking just now I would have to say that it appears to flow in the direction of energy.for example, horizontally through the window and then there's somewhat of a puddle at the wall, etc.
Perhaps it is energy? That would explain why it accumulates where you focus your attention. As I say this though, I can't help but think "what isn't energy?"
Anyway, seems I have more questions than answers. I'm not sure what the implications are regarding meditation and past life. I think it's just there and if you bother to look then you can see it. I know that sounds weird, but it is human nature to blind out what is right in front of our faces.
I wonder, is there a way to tell if it's prana? Why is it always easier to tell what something isn't rather than what it is?
I would love to have light shed on this as well
(Ha-ha.oh the irony!)
Paula
Oh yeah, my eyes are fine. See an eye doctor about once a year.still perfect vision no problems.
It is a good thing to get checked however, in part of your "testing" ;)

I see colorless curled thread like things. If I observe clearly, they have pixels and stripes embedded in them. You can try one thing. (anybody can try). Go near a white tube light with your eyes close to it (around 1 feet distance). As you see the tubelight, you can see these curled thread like things more clearly. Along with these threads you can see individual pixels moving in the air too.
White backgrounds like the computer screen we are currently looking at (yahoo group page which has white background) also make me see these threads but tubelight has the highest effect. In daylight i can see them whenever i want.
Hope it has some relation to past life meditation. lol. such things are always good to hear :)

When I see 'prana', it is like a thick static electricity in the air. It is as if the air is dense, full of this sparkling, yet clear, energy. I notice it most often after I have performed some ritual work, like chanting for a very long, for example.I do not notice it while I am engaged in the activity, unless part of the activity involves movement, such as tracing stars in the air (I am a practising occultist as well).
Afterward though, the air is *packed*. In high energy situations, like a concert in a small venue for example, this is also noticable. I was amused to have a musician ask me about this recently, as I had never spoken of this with him before and he is not engaged in anything even remotely close to yoga or occultism.
In any case, I believe it is safer for us to err on the side of caution. Seeing this stuff is only a side effect, far from the point. It is there, we know it is, and so we move on.

Yogani mentions this in his lessons as well. So when I see lights, or feel the energy radiating from my spine or up my spine as I meditate, I gently return to my mantra, knowing it is only a side effect of the practice...

Hi Athena -
I remember when I first started being interested in spiritual matters, someone had asked me if
I had ever meditated before. Thinking I hadn't I answered no. I played many instruments growing up
And spent more time in an orchestra pit than I care to count. Now that I have a few years of formal meditation under my belt, I realize that time I spent playing music is and has been some of the best meditation I ever took part in.
I never thought about it at the time, but it's almost like a mantra. The conductor would begin the symphony and before a few measures had past I wouldn't even be reading the notes and the room would disappear.
It was just a passing thought I had while reading about your friend; that he might spend more time in a meditative state than he (or anyone else) realizes.

I can only speak for myself and I don't want to get off topic. Yes, I have heard of this. I started having energy currents running up my spine (always up) when I was about sixteen. I didn't know what it was and never discussed it with anyone. Shortly after, I began seeing things and hearing things before they actually came to pass in this world, often in dreams.
I never understood it- it simply is. Later, I was drawn to yoga and meditation and the energy currents occur during meditation and sometimes as I rest.... As Yogani said, these are just side-effects of our practice and perhaps it is best not to dwell on such things that divert from our practices...
In light, life and love, Kathy
