A parable for religious educators: A sheep found a hole in the fence and crept through it. He wandered far and lost his way back. Then he realized that he was being followed by a wolf. He ran and ran, but the wolf kept chasing him, until the shepherd came and rescued him and carried him lovingly back to the fold. In spite of everyone’s urgings to the contrary, the shepherd refused to nail up the hole in the fence.

One day the ravenous wolf caught the little sheep; the shepherd was nowhere to be seen, smelled or found.
The brutish collection of fangs, claws and fury, tore her asunder, consuming flesh, sinnew and bone.
When all the bleating, and suffering was over, the sheep looked up and saw she was the shepherd.
Wearing the body of a sheep, the sheperd, wept with joy, for the loving mercy of the wolf, whose name was karma, her loyal guide to the fence-hole home.
Well she guarded the hole in the fence, so that her brothers and sisters, would also know where to go.
