Hey All :)
Had a friend start a thread on FB that I figured would be fun to copy here. The game is to create a rhyming couplet for each yoga asana, mudra/bandha etc etc.
Here's what we got so far:
Ustrasana, Ustrasana, you open my soul;
With surrender and poise, we realize the Whole.
Trikonasa, Trikonasana, you lovely thing;
You make my hips go zippy and my shoulder sing.
Sirsasana, Sirsasana, bring on the flood;
Fill the brain with oxygen, fill the brain with blood.
Hanumanasana, Hanumanasana, you make my mind reel;
If my hamstring would loosen, I could surely slide my heel!
Siddhasana, Siddhasana, you fill me with bliss;
Heel to perinuem, no ecstasy's missed.
Sarvangasana, Sarvangasana, the coolest of poses;
Feel the breeze through your nose and between each toeses
Tittibasana,Tittibasana, you have the coolest name;
You're so f*&^ing hard but I do you all the same.
Balasana, Balasana, your are my salvation,
Slow down my heart and bring recreation
Halasana, Halasana, bring me to repose;
You close off my throat so I breath through my nose.
Padmasana, padmasana, in Silence you hold us;
With beauty and grace from the mud comes the lotus.
Kechari, Kechari, tongue in my nose;
You tickle the pituitary so the energy flows.
Adho Mukha Svanasana, Adho Mukha Svanasana, you king of all doggies!
Make me long, make me strong, cause we are bosom buddies.
Amaroli, Amaroli, you taste so damn bad;
But when my body don't get you it makes it so sad.
Baddha Konasana, Baddha Konsana. Get the anger out of my hips.
Bend deeply forward and kiss the toes with your lips.
Yoga mudra, Yoga mudra, seal that energy in;
Keep that ass on the mat though or nobody wins.
Oh mantra, oh mantra, bring my mind to deep peace;
That gap between thoughts, like being wrapped in warm fleece.
Virabhadrasan, five breaths and I'm done.
My thighs are a burnin' I can't feel my bum.
Bakasana's a crow, not pheasant nor keet.
Reach out from your heart and out through your feet.
Astavakrasana, Astavakrasana, you wise twisted chap;
To get out of this pose I'll need a waterproof map
I've quite enjoyed coming up with these couplets, and figured I would share the joy... so, feel free to join in!

paschimottanasana with my head near my knees.
In this position I can perform amaroli with ease. |

Yoga, oh yoga, unify the polarities;
Don't care what it takes, I'll even do some austerities.
Janu Sirsasan, great mudra of yore;
Pull the kundalini up and blow it out my top door.
Vrksasana, Vrksasana, with roots in the ground;
so wonderfully free, and yet so deeply bound.
P.S. Machart, I pretty much pissed myself reading yours. SO funny!

divine carson, such a beautiful insightful post!
to crack the wisdom within each asana through the harmony of the breathless breath is to be blessed in each insight. each insight empowerment of each siddhi with the ultimate siddhi of wisdom dissolving all others siddhi to be the one.
each asana a flower within flower inhaled, retained and exhales as life, death and rebirth as the blossom to be the seedless fruit of joy that is love that is light.
