Enigma 2
I am lost among the shadows,
of the shimmering oaks,
that hold her songs
for the blackbirds
as they play to the end of days.
She is a mystery,
glistens in the eyes of strangers,
but passes by my way.
I wonder what it is I have done,
that my fears grow,
and I am forced to hide,
from the very essence I seek
to become.
I am close,
and yet so distant;
my path seems confused and misguided;
to find what I am looking for,
I must stop looking?
Let it go?
I don’t know who to trust,
she doesn’t see me,
no one does,
and so life weaves a maze
with no logical solution;
it just says,
‘let your heart guide you
and you will find your way.’
But there I am lost,
for my heart hides among shadows;
they are fragments, frightened and angry,
and they are my chosen path,
often walked lonely,
but in truth, never alone;
there is always the song of the blackbird
to accompany me to places unseen,
where maybe one day I will meet her,
stare into her eyes,
and step out of the shadows in
the centre of the maze.
