I was hoping somebody could recommend me an Indian philosopher, an Indian branch of philosophy, or philosophical book - something that has an AYP type of philosophy to it, something that is compatible with quantum mechanics. I have an "east meets west" philosophy class and have to find a secondary text by Monday in order to analyze it and present my argument, and the book has to be related to Kant, Indian philosophy, or Schopenhauer, and of course I am going to do the Indian Philosophy. The only branch of Indian philosophy I have heard of is Advaita Vedanta, but I don't know any of the major philosophers or texts.
So any suggestions? |

Hi BellaMente:
"Yoga" is one of the six primary systems of Indian philosophy (you can Wikipedia the rest), expounded in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, which is all of 25 pages long. Commentaries are many and much longer.
Can't get much more quantum than yoga.
The One is the many and the many are the One.
The guru is in you.

Thanks Yogani, I just checked it out. I heard of Patanjali and the eight limbs of yoga many times before but I didn't know it had a philosophical basis - and it's great that it's short, I really don't have the time to study a long and tedious text. I am going to check with my professor to make sure I can go with it, but it looks like this is what I am going to go for...
Thanks! |
