In the Tibetan Buddhist tradition, there is the Bodhistattvic vow that states "I will return again and again until all beings are enlightened". Beautiful! However... doesn't that fly in the face of "not two" - the state of absorption back into the ocean of consciousness upon ones "demise", and that state on non-duality that so many of us spiritual seekers aspire to?
Take the Dalai Lama for instance - he is apparently the reincarnation of the 13th Dalai Lama. In his present incarnation, he has many of the human traits and remembrances of the 13th Dalai Lama. If this is true, this would lead one to believe that parts of one's personality can survive intact through the absorption process at the time of death which is, at the very least, interesting (or should I say, confusing). Anyway, just musing here...
