Happy Valley

when i was young
the mountains held
a special charm for me

their summit rocks
took Indra's tears
and sent them to the sea

as breathtaking as summits were
my true love lay below

the crystal pools of mountain streams
as pure as melted snow

my friends and i would bathe in them
and wash away the grime

collected on our bodies
from a long day's sweaty climb.

they say five thousand years ago
while serving their exile

Lord Rama and Shri Sita-ji
took refuge for awhile

in a peace-filled blissful place
a valley far away

where Rama's arrow dug a spring
so Sita-ji could bathe

i feel somehow that i have been
where Rama made that spring

by letting fly an arrow
from His infinite bow-string

His arrow's name is shaktipat

the ground it struck is me

the tears that spring from both my eyes
are gifts to Sita-ji

we wander still within this world

but only for a while

Ram's Happy Valley waits for us

a love beyond exile

That poem came to me yesterday and brought tears to my eyes.

The quote below it is from my beloved Guruji, Shri Dhyanyogi Madhusudandasji. That quote is the title of chapter 28 of his biography, "This House Is On Fire" - it is something he said to describe his mission in this world.
