On a vision quest in Africa, writer Daniel Pinchbeck tried a drug called iboga, which is worshipped in parts of Africa for its ability to provide wisdom and insight (for one thing, it shows you all your shortcomings and offers a visceral feeling of how one fits into the web of things). I don't believe in drugs...yoga's so much better. But I did like this quote...a lot:
"When I was shown other faults that seemed rather petty and insignificant, I tried to protest that some of these things really didn't matter. Iboga would have none of it, insisting: "Everything matters!" Iboga told me that I had no idea of the potential significance of even the smallest actions."
