The goal of all meditation or spiritual practices or AYP should be
in doing good and becoming good. Isnt it? It should be. Otherwise
our lives can go onto the dangerous side with these powerful
practices in our hand. There is every possibility of misusing them
if we dont decide within ourselves to be good.

AYP can give us powers, can give us control, can give us the ability
to "be cool". At the same time we should also use it to make our
conscience stronger. I do recollect Yogani saying that AYP practices
will naturally make us more good too but still I think we need to
put efforts from our own side. Atleast thats some scale on which we
can test our progress. Am I less selfish today compared to yesterday
is the question we need to ask ourselves everyday.

Ofcourse whenever i try to be good and unselfish, my genetical
obstructions and my past life karma obstructions will come in the
way. I wont force myself and do good against these. But I gently try
to push the limits and see if I can be unselfish. Thats how I test
myself. With increasing meditation practices everyday, slowly I feel
we will become more unselfish and more of divine nature.

Please share your opinions on what you think about karma yoga and AYP

Thanks,
Near

Dear Near,

I believe you are confusing two very different levels of goodness.

One is, what I believe to be yours, in which one is sincerely full of good
intentions and sometimes eventually doesn't work hard enough. This kind of
person does try to be good and being aware of this need to act good is a
great thing.

The other is that of people who are cynical and couldn't care less about
being good. This accounts or lots of people who keep talking about being
good but don't act like that. People who pretend to be nice but then don't
care about the means to reach their goals. I already met a lot of these
people who talk about yoga, spiritual development and being good and seem
really convinced about this but then move in the opposite direction.

The latter are the people who can misuse the "powers" you talk about. I
wouldn't worry with the first ones. So, there isn't much one can do about
the cynical people and I can't see how your warning will reach them.

Bye,
Nuno

the very 1sr thing i would like to mention .......that......there are .......no 'levels'
...these r all "created" by us........."THE MOTHER NATURE HAS ALL AT SAME LEVEL".......as per the performance.....
.....We....all......have been created to serve a specific purpose (not yet known to us) within a specified time (our life span)......if we can not....chances r given.....again and agian..........WHY?......WHAT IS THE PURPOSE OF THIS PLAY?.......
THE SOUL PORPOSE OF OUR BEINGNESS here IS TO FIND WHAT IS REQUIRED FOR EVERY INDIVIDUAL AND HOW TO ACHIVE IT.

I also agree that mother nature has all at same level. Nevertheless if we
are talking about behaviors we must be able to qualify and quantify. I am
not saying that people who act badly in their lives deserve less love from
others or are forever in a lower level. That was not my intention at all.
Nevertheless one can distinguish one person who unconsciously does a selfish
act but regrets it when becomes aware if it from another one who keeps doing
them aware of the harm that it does on others. These are different levels. I
am not judging the people in their nature, I am judging their behavior
patterns.

Well, I do try to avoid being moralist and be aware that all my judgements
are relative to my limited reality and can be wrong. Nevertheless if I see
someone consciously doing something in order to prejudice someone else I can
objectively say that it is wrong. I may still accept the idea that at a
karmic level maybe it had to happen. But objectively one can have an opinion
on that.

Tell me, imagine that you know for sure that someone took money from you.
When you ask him he tells you that he didn't take any money from you. He
lied. Independently of the consequences of that lie and independently of the
context now you know that that person can lie to you. You can still be his
friend if you understand his context and that doesn't make him necessarily a
bad person. But he lied and that is a bad action.

Last year I went to Dharamsala in India and listened to the Dalai Lama
teachings. At some point he said something really interesting: one should
distinguish the "doer" from the "deed". That means one should judge the
actions but never judge the person.

So I believe I can judge levels of behaviors even if I CANNOT judge levels
of people.

Nuno

Dear fellower,
.........u said it very right.......
"one should distinguish the "do'er" from the "deed". That means one should judge the actions but never judge the person."
.....now .........
..try to understand why that "do'er" is doing the "deeds"........is because of YOUR PAST KARMA'......or "HIS"?.........
.......remember "Karma" of each-one "BINDS" other.........for to 'pay or to receive'

Nuno Godinho <eu@nunogodinho.com> wrote:

So I believe I can judge levels of behaviors even if I CANNOT judge levels
of people.

Hi brother,
when u say......"I believe I can judge levels of behaviors even if I CANNOT judge levels of people.".....its an achivment.......keep going......
