Welcome to the AYP Forums!

The premise of yoga is that the human nervous system in the doorway to divine experience and enlightenment, and that it can be opened with the aid of yoga practices. If you have sensed that there is something more to be known within you, something important, then you have come to the right place to investigate the possibilities and apply the means for opening to your full potential.

Advanced Yoga Practices (AYP) is about learning the most effective daily practices that purify our nervous system and cultivate our inner openings. There are over 300 free lessons on yoga practices available on this website. You can find them by clicking on "Home" at the top of this page, or go to www.aypsite.org These lessons are open and non-sectarian, and can be used as a stand-alone teaching, or to supplement any other path.

The AYP lessons have also been expanded into a comprehensive lesson book, an exciting spiritual novel and a series of concise instruction books on individual practices, all of which can be found at: www.aypsite.org/books.html

In February of 2005, the AYP lessons were supplemented to include a forum on Yahoo, so readers could interact and network on matters of mutual interest. The result has been well over 1,000 postings on spiritual practices and related subjects by practitioners at all levels of experience. In July of 2005, the contents of the Yahoo AYP Forum have been mirrored here on this site, and the range of topics and forum capabilities has been opened up tremendously, as you can see from the list of aypsite.org forums and the much-increased functionality of the forum software. The goal is to provide the best possible vehicle for practitioners worldwide to gather and interact on spiritual practices for the benefit of all.

The AYP forums are for learning and teaching, and everyone here participates on both sides of that equation. We call it "horizontal teaching," as opposed to the traditional top-down "vertical teaching" approach. If adequate instructional resources are available, then everyone can help everyone along the path to enlightenment - "Candles lighting candles until all candles are lit." All of the AYP writings are designed to facilitate the horizontal teaching of yoga practices.

A primary principle in AYP is that anyone who wants to can achieve self-sufficiency in spiritual practices, and travel the road to enlightenment. It is a matter of having the desire, obtaining the education in the most effective practices and developing the experience over time. We can begin with daily deep meditation today, and steadily be adding practices in a logical step-by-step fashion over the coming months and years. Our experiences of increasing unshakable inner silence, ecstatic bliss and outpouring divine love will progress accordingly. This forum is for aiding that all-important process of building a daily routine of practices that will cultivate our spiritual transformation.

The AYP lessons can serve as a touchstone for our individual process of inner discovery. Part of that process is interacting with others to the extent we find it to be helpful. The AYP forums have been designed to provide venues for discussing the full range of practices available in the AYP lessons. Forums are also included for looking outside the core AYP practices. Everyone has different inclinations and experiences relating to self-improvement and spiritual growth, and attempts have been made to provide forums covering a wide range of interests in the spiritual arena.

The AYP forums are managed by and for the members, so do take full advantage of the great opportunity for interaction with yogis and yoginis all over the world. Make sure to check out the AYP lessons and correlate what you find there with the discussions that are occurring here. The AYP forums and AYP lessons go hand-in-hand.

A Reminder: Each is responsible for his or her own spiritual progress, and for the methods applied. What you do with the information in the AYP writings is your call.

I wish you all success on your chosen spiritual path. Practice wisely, and enjoy!

The guru is in you.
