Hello again!
I regularly wake early, maybe 1-2 hours before I feel I would need to. It feels like I would really need to sleep more, but once I'm awake I can rarely sleep again and seems to cast a mental and physical shadow over the rest of the day, unless I can steal a short nap after lunch.
It's often accompanied by dry eyes, and I was wondering if this might be an ajna chakra problem. Sometimes a certain practice (om chanting, qigong, reiki, etc) might improve the situation temporarily (e.g. 1-2 nights), but doesn't seem to help in the longer term.
I know in AYP we don't concern ourselves too much with what is happening under the hood, but this problem has been going on now for maybe 4-5 years. I've also had some other eye problems over the past 10 years or so.
Why does this happen? Is there something in my life that needs to change? And is it right to focus and work on a specific chakra in such a case?
Thanks again for any help! |

Hello, Compassion:
Sorry about this problem. It might be tricky to figure out the exact cause given that it has been going on for 4-5 years. You could try to answer the question: What happened just before this problem started? Talking with a friend, a therapist, and/or journaling over and over may bring some clarity.
Another approach is to try to replicate the conditions surrounding the sleeping routine before the problem appeared. Did you change the bedding style? The light in the room? The place where you leave your phone/electronics over night? Any change in the diet? etc. Often sleeping patterns change as we get older, with less sleep during the night and more naps during the day. Other things you could try are yoga nidra , 10-20 minutes of gentle stretches before bedtime, and getting more exercise during the day, but not before the bedtime (like walking at least an hour, doing 50 sun salutations, etc.).
Best wishes. Looking forward to hearing how you are managing.
