I was doing navi kriya yesterday and was very aware of the strong connection of mulabhanda, shambhavi mudra, and uddiyana bandha. I understand the progression to whole body mudhras that has been developing over time. This made me wonder if the belly breathing we do with spinal breathing pranayama goes against the bodies tendency towards uddiyana. Thoughts?

Hi Interpaul,

In my experience, the yogic breath or full belly breath moves prana from the pelvic floor to the entire body. And the three bandhas including uddiyanna combined with Kumbhaka amplifies and sustains the whole body ecstatic bliss. The body remembers this pathway effortlessly and everything syncs in naturally.
