I Have been trying to follow celibacy because it keeps me joyful and energetic. I am quite fascinated with state of no mind. I practice deep meditation, mantra chanting (given by my guru), pranayama and tibetin rites. But my old addictions sometimes resurface and i watch porn. When i watch porn i somehow feel i am wasting my energy and afterwards i feel empty and lesser energy. I have heard somewhere that we should never stop flow of semen. I am afraid that if i don't masturbate after watching porn i'll stop the flow of semen and it will congest my genital tubes. It seriously messes up my celibacy.

Watching porn with celibacy is not appropriate i know but sometimes as a beginner i slip and watch porn for few minutes. And when i watch porn i must masturbate because i can't stop the flow of semen. So how should i deal with this whole issue? If i don't masturbate during porn and get bored with it and continue my celibacy then will it be okay? Will i be healthy and good energy wise and physical health wise? PLZ HELP.

HI PureandClean

You can find answers to you questions in the Tantra lessons on this website, starting at www.aypsite.org/T1.html

Bear in mind brahmacharya, like other practice, has to be carefully integrated in your overall yoga practice, with due self-pacing. Since you are practicing a different yoga system than AYP we cannot advise you there. Make sure you do not take on more practices than you can integrate and back off if discomfort occurs.

All the best on your path.

Hi PureandClean,

Forcing celibacy, will never work. Transformation by advanced yoga practice like meditation and later tantric practices like bramhacharya will work but with ups and downs, this will take years. We can not force it. Till then, do not feel guilty (easy said, I know), have compassion with yourself. The force to reproduce is the most powerful in Universe. There is no short cut to bramacharya. Like Blue Raincoat pointed out, it is all in the lessons. Yogani is a master in explaining.

When we were children we had toys and played with them, like all children do. Slowly we transformed to adults, one day looking back we can see, somewhere along our way we did lost the interest in our toys, we did not force ourself, the interests changed, transformed....

PS Porn addiction is an addiction like all other addictions, if needed we can find help from professionals for addiction treatment.

I would have suggested focusing on the practices in the main lessons - meditation, panayama etc. They will prepare you for brahmacharya. You will know when you are ready for the practices described in the Tantra lessons.

I doubt you have a porn addiction. My guess is that porn is an outlet for repressed sexual needs. You are trying to lead a celibate lifestyle before you are ready for it. As Charliedog pointed out, sexual energy will not be quashed. It takes years of practice before it can be channeled towards a spiritual goal. In the meantime, there is no point beating yourself up about it. As long as you are doing your yoga practice, you are making progress. That is the best a practitioner can do.

All the best.

I understand that forcing celibacy never works. I am doing a lot of breathing work and energy moving practices. My question still remains unanswered. Please i need help. Will i have to masturbate to clear out my prostate if i watch porn accidentally for 2 min ?

No, you don't have to masturbate, unless you want to. Retaining semen is not harmful to your system, you may experience some temporary discomfort ("blue balls") because your attention is drawn to the sensation. If you busy yourself in other ways, the sensation passes. Nature has its on way of handling the situation: nocturnal emission, the release of semen in sleep. If this occurs, do not fret, treat it as scenery and go about your spiritual pursuits. You have lost nothing but a little fluid, your Bhakti and your dedicated yoga practice will move you along regardless.

If watching porn is distressing, then avoid it. Your feelings of emptiness and lack of energy speak as much about mental constructs as they do about fluid loss. Your practice will make brahmacharya an automatic thing over time, your body will be transmuting sexual essence without your attention. Until then, do your best at retaining semen if that is your want, and be gentle with yourself if your waking or sleeping self cannot cooperate with this desire.

When one worries, it's an opportunity for reflection: what is the root of this worry? Is this worry benefiticial, if not, how can I overcome this worry? As we live our yoga practice, our self inquiry and attention can move mountains within!
