I think it's a fairly uncontroversial part of what most people
classify as Ayurveda, yes.

It's hard to know how it works. Is it hormesis (resistence-
stimulation through small doses of toxin), replacement of desirable
nutrients and/or hormones (yes there are hormones in you pee)? My
guess is "all of the above plus other stuff we don't know about" :)

But it definitely works.
