Negativity cannot flow from pure bliss consciousness. It simply is not possible. This is why we call samyama a morally self-regulating practice.
What is the difference between releasing a thought into stillness like in Samyama vs releasing a thought into the nervous system?
As I understand it, we practice DM after Spinal breathing so that no stray thoughts can be planted into our nervous system so that weeds can sprout later.
But isn’t our nervous system pure bliss consciousness?
I would say that the nervous system is the conduit through which pure bliss consciousness flows. Stillness is not something that can be exactly identified—only hinted at.
The river is not the rocks it flows over. The sky is not the clouds that fill it. Yes, they are all connected, and One, but there is nevertheless a surface-level separation that helps us discern one thing from another. So it is with the nervous system and stillness. The nervous system is the house; stillness is the resident.
Meditation takes care of that, YogiCosmos. If you keep up your regular meditation practice stillness develops. Are you noticing more inner silence throughout the day? Are you feeling more peaceful and relaxed? Then inner silence is growing.
I’ve been experimenting with using traditional Sanskrit mantras and Samyama. Sanskrit is a language of energy since uttering it has effects on the petals of our chakras.
I’ve tried doing “Om Gam Ganapataye Namaha” in Samyama twice for 30 seconds. Honestly repeating it twice in Samyama was more powerful than traditionally chanting it 108 times. And my day seems to go a lot smoother!
