Hi,

I have a long standing curiousity about the significance behind the colors of the robes which are worn by practitioners of different paths.

In India, we see sadhu's in white and Orange robes.

Tantra guru's are usually in Red or black.

Buddhists are usually in maroon.

My understanding till date is that white and orange is probably associated with renunciates, red for householders, shakti worshippers and black for the aghoras as many of them practise outside the ordinary precints of society doing radical sadhana's.

Myself having a deep attraction towards the color red and towards all who are adorned in red robes.

Would appreciate some light on the matter as i have found no reference on the net on this topic.

Or is it that the color represents certain attainment levels in sadhana.
