Hello, yes in fact it is part of what the AYP practices do. Spinal Breathing and Deep Meditation.
The idea here however is to allow the knots to be unwound in a way that is not specifically targeted.
Targeted is better right?
Well no not really because there is no way of really knowing if the correct knot in the correct sequence is being released. The AYP system allows for gradual change and releasing of the knots so you do not wind up in very unpleasant places with a net gain of zero to show for the suffering that may come of specific targetd practice.
Something else to consider with the knots there is open and then there is really, really open best to open them a little at a time so you can adapt.
Hope this helps.

What's more, the desire to eliminate the knots is a knot. The person holding that desire is a knot. The internet stranger explaining all this is a knot. The person reading is a knot. It’s knots tying knots with knots - including the knot of knot untying. You can’t escape it, because the fabric of this little drama we’re sharing here (including the yoga drama) is knots all the way down.
The truth is infinite silence. It’s peaceful but nothing happens. So we create entertainment and drama; pretending to tie ourselves tightly into the dream, just for kicks. Just like going to movies for light entertainment, we quickly identify with the film,, and reinforce that identification, and soon forget ourselves. We forget that we ourselves tied them, we ourselves ARE them….all just for kicks.
But if you’ll quietly, effortlessly, aimlessly let go for a few minutes per day in meditation, the knots will slowly come to feel less binding (as you loosen your subconscious grip on them). Eventually, even the the knot you personally identify with seems less binding. You remember it was pretending. Nothing to cut or untie.
But if you make it a project, and apply effort, then you’re just tying more knots. The knots of knot untying.
So just let go, for a few minutes per day (see the AYP lesson about Meditation), into more of a “thy will be done” state.

Glad that rings true for you. Then perhaps you understand why I frequently observe that it's silly to use yoga in the service of this drama; to try to increase one's "power" or to have some terribly transformative effect on the world, and all that stuff. That's yoga-in-the-movie; the yoga of knot reinforcement. The diametrical opposite of letting go.
Doesn't mean we need to turn into passive floppy-flops, but if yoga's making you more and more geared up to bend the movie plot to your will, then you're only tightening the bindings. If you're engaged in the world - contributing with child-like zeal - without needing things to turn out this way or that, that seems to be the good stuff. I don't see much of that, alas. |
