Hi there, I have been playing around with some different mantras (other than Yogani's 'i am') and have found 'supercalifragilisticexpialidocious' to be a much better word for me to work with in terms of getting myself into a mediative state. It's length and quality really soothes me internally and I am able to stay on the mantra far easier than the very short and kind of boring 'i am'. Any thoughts on this? |

Can not say that the 'I am' mantra is boring. Though, in the beginning it was somewhat difficult to adjust to it. I think that part was the 'clunky' stage that Yogani talks about. I am doing enhanced mantra, but still it sometimes changes back to i am and it's still taking me whole with it. Sorry, but my english is limited and can't remember the exact phrase now. |

Sorry, I didn't mean boring, I just meant that I find it very difficult to stay on such a short mantra for twenty minutes. The mantra that i suggested has helped me to preform deep meditation for twenty minutes at a time with out the need to stop early. I hope it can help others who have similar problems with 'i am'. What is enhanced mantra? I have not read about that yet... Please enlighten me friend. |

I think you should invest in a broom, seek out a school called Hogwart's, and take up study under a wizard that uses magic wands and potions as a means of tweaking reality. That will really enhance the mantra.
Stupefy! |

You are having fun there Yep, it's a good idea to read up the AYP lessons before you switch to the school of Mary Poppins |

Are you doing a preset rhytm, or do you allow the rhytm of the mantra to change? 'I am' can be very long for me, or very short depending on my pronunciation. Maybe you are feeling the inward pull to spread the mantra, so to speak? |

Dear Crowstick,
You like it, "even the sound of it is something quite atrocious?"
A longer mantra may be better. I like chanting more than short mantras. It's better for me.
Hope it continues to help you, too!

Hey - I tried making "dog poop" my mantra for a while just to see if it would have the same effect. I'm serious. I could not see it thru though for more than one session because I could not stop laughing.
