I've been meditating for many years. My Kundalini was awakened through Shaktipat about 23 years ago. (1991)

For the past 9 years I have been meditating for an hour in the morning using brainwave entrainment technology. When I meditate I use the mantra Om Namah Shivaha which I also repeat throughout the day silently as japa.

I usually do some form of chanting every day, about 20 minutes of yoga asanas.

From the first day I received Shaktipat to the present, my meditations have been filled with spontaneous physical kriyas sometimes even violent ones such as very rapid and intense neck snapping from side to side. Sometimes this goes on for the entire hour.

About 4 or 5 months ago I noticed a powerful but gentle energy moving in my face during meditation. After about a month of that I noticed it was moving during the day as well when I closed my eyes. Then, it began happening even with my eyes open during the day but now, the energy moves into my head (at the crown) and when it does it's very painful. It's like a sharp energy (like a razor blade) moving, dancing and bouncing around in the crown of my head. It goes on all day from morning till night. When I wake up the next day it's not there but it starts as a slight tingle in my crown and then proceeds to increase fairly rapidly. Every 3 days or so I'm fine. I feel gentle energy moving in my face but it doesn't hurt but the next day it starts again.

My sleep is not affected but it's a little hard to lie there trying to go to sleep with the pain going on in my head.

I walk every morning for 30 minutes. I eat a somewhat heavy diet including chicken. If someone can help or offer some suggestions about how to handle this, I'd be very grateful. Thank you

For symptom relief, an over-the-counter migraine relief medication might help. Long term, you might take a look at caffeine intake--caffeine addiction can cause headache. You will know if your addicted if you get headache from not using caffeine. The over-the-counter migraine relief pills I use contain caffeine.

Hi Leone,

welcome to the forums I've experienced the same things over the last year, after a dramatic "crown opening" (descriptions vary). After getting fried from work, I've had some time to relax, and think a lot of it was caused by being over-stressed. If there is a lot of stress in your life, that may be contributing to the overload symptoms.

Cutting back on some ambition was necessary for me.

Hi MLeone and welcome to the AYP Forums.

My recommendation would be to try adding a couple rounds of Spinal Breathing Pranayama into your practice before meditation, decrease meditation time significantly (maybe 10mins?) and drop japa during the day until it is resolved. I've also found acupuncture with an acupuncturist that understands kundalini awakening or is kundalini awakened very helpful. Medication can help in the short term but from my read here it doesn't sound like medication would be anything more than a bandaid.

Thank you for your responses. Bewell, this is nothing like a headache. Medication doesn't touch it, even sightly. Anima, I really don't think this is a response to being over stressed because, quite frankly, I don't feel stressed at all. As far as cutting back on practices, that doesn't solve the problem either. I quit all practices for an entire month and it continued just as intensely. I finally started back meditating because I figured it's going to happen with or without it, I may as well do it. Japa helps me to keep my mind still otherwise I'm creating stories around it in my mind which make it worse. I've had several days recently where there was no pain at all and I felt normal, but on the days when there is pain, it's pretty intense.

Hi MLeone

I understand you are not using the AYP method - is your practice geared towards putting the 3rd eye in control of the energy flow?
Secondly, have you considered the possibility that the pain may not be related to mediation sice stopping all practices did not affect it? Do you feel any other kind of disconfort whatsoever when this pain occurs?

Thank you BlueRaincoat. When I meditate, I do exactly what the AYP site describes except I use the mantra Om Namah Shivaya.

This has actually been going on now for 7 months. At first I couldn't decide if it was the Kundalini Shakti or something medical. I described it to a friend, who is a doctor, and he says he knows of no medical problem that would behave the way this is.

Strangely enough, it is now on a 3 day cycle which has convinced me beyond doubt that is it shakti. I have a heavy day when the discomfort is very intense. Then I have a light day, where the discomfort is considerably more bearable and sometimes it even decreases even more as the day goes on. On the third day, I feel completely normal, no discomfort at all. I feel the energy moving but it's not in my head so there's no discomfort.

One more thing I forgot in my last post. Since this started the physical kriyas (spontaneous movements) have become increasingly intense. My neck snaps violently for a good part of the meditation and then I'm pulled on the floor and swing my arm over my head very quickly and then it feels like it being pulled to stretch my shoulder and arm. Sometimes the movements are so intense and so rapid that when I'm finished meditating, I'm pouring sweat and my heart is pounding like I just finished running a race.

I'll also mention that, on the days when I am feeling no discomfort, my neck, which has always given me problems, feels better than it has in years.

Hello again MLeone

It's good you've checked it with a doctor - always a good idea to get that possibility out of the way.
I recognise this pattern of going-though-a-rough-patch followed by 'I feel better than ever before'. It does sound like some imbalances are clearing up, but you are going though a fair amount of discomfort there, which indicates that you have over-extended your practice beyond your current capacity and you should consider scaling back.

Looking at your current practice with my AYPer hat on, this is what I would suggest:
1. You are doing quite a long meditation session and this prbably triggers a lot of purification happening too fast. Yogani recommends keeping DM sessions to a maximum of 20 minutes. If you want to do more than two 2 x 20 minutes slots every day (morning and evening), he recommends repeating the morning cycle - that means doing a 20 minutes meditation session, followed by the 10 minutes customary rest after meditation, then starting over again. If I were in your shoes I would scale back to 20 minutes meditation or even less, each morning and evening. And I'd stick to this reduced routine for at least a couple of months to see if that brings about any significant changes.

2. You are not mentioning any pranayama practice. I would recommend having a look at the AYP spinal breathing technique, which is really good for clearing the energy channels. You can read about this technique here:

I think the main thing for you to do is to scale back, find the level of practice where you are comfortable and take it from there. As they say, sometimes less is more.

I second what BlueRaincoat has recommended. I have had some milder though similar kriyas as yours (especially in the face), and I had had years of intense pressure and pains in my head similar to those you're describing, prior to kundalini awakening. If you haven't already, read the beginning AYP lessons, and add in the Spinal Breathing Pranayama. I came to soon AYP after experiencing a kundalini bliss blowout and I was having a tough time living a regular life with work and family, etc. Adding in the SBP soon after starting DM really smoothed the energy out for me. It has literally been a God send. Since you have so much experience with mantra meditation already, the precautions to wait until you have a solid practice of Deep Meditation established has likely already been met.

I was practicing Pranayama 15 years back after reading book by Swami Vivekananda book name is Raja Yoga. After practicing around 6 months, i was suffering from severe kundalini problems like burning sensation throughout my body, actually skin color changed, lips color changed like a dead person, my
digestive and excretory system is completely disturbed.
Eating meat caused vomiting, always nausea and vomiting, weakness,one side breathing, sleeplessness, anxiety, loss in temper, unable to express feelings all types of problems devloped.
I was thinking that i am going to die. At that time i was preparing for engineering entrance, but focus changed how to survive rather than study.
Later i rejected reading all spiritual books, started chanting aum to cool down. Here i want to tell that heat was generating rapidly from right side just above hip and skull. There was feeling that internal bleeding in brain, right side chest choked with cough. Aum chanting has helped a faith inside me but i was unable concentrate on anything. Later i got an average seat in an engineering
college, which was much lower than my intelligence capability. I was unable to accept the failure but forced to do it. During first year of my engineering, sometime blood coming during cough, doctor suggested to take asthma medicine but i didn't.
Season change had no effect on my body heat. Gradually year by year the burning sensation subside but it is still active at the right side hip point. Always breathing happening through left nostril, when checked with ENT doctor, there is swelling inside nostril, and he suggested for eosinophillia test. My earlier blood AEC test shows high eosinophillic count.
I feel dryness at the right part of my mouth, to compensate it i often take water. When eating it seems like food was not going in through right esophagus.
Sometime there was shaking which reminds me past glorous day and all the time i feel sadness(Much reduced than earlier). Always obsessive thought continues which links to the past.
Can anybody suggest what should i do to comeout from past thoughts and be active in present life. Industrial politics create another pain taking things.
Often visiting doctor i couldnot express about my problems. It seems life has no meaning, search for meanging created disturbance to resolve it maximum time is wasted.Now what is next creates worryness. Neither i can go to past and rectify the things nor can find a better future prospective.
At some point of time i forgot about the kundalini and concentrated on other things, reading this AYP website i came to know that these are related to kundalini syndrome and happened to many(Earlier i was thinking i am the only victim).
Any suggestion is highly expected to my problems.

Hi,
Are you doing any meditation technique?
If not, check out Deep Meditation (DM) on the Key Lessons to the left.
You could also benefit from doing 5 min of Spinal Breathing Pranayama before DM.
Maybe start with DM only for some time and see how that goes. If that is uncomfortable, you can replace it with breath meditation which you can also find in the lessons.
Inner silence is needed to rightly handle the energetics and the obssesive thoughts you mention.

Thanks Mykal K, at present i am practicing art of living sudarshan kriya regularly. Walking outside has helped me a great. As all problems devloped due to pranayama, psycholgical allergy devloped to this word.But anyway i have heard much about spinal pranayama, yogani himself also suggested the same and i will do it.

ddingal , start meditations for sure - small amounts of time but twice a day , every day. Seek an expert advice about balancing left /right sides which i cannot give . What I can give you is my experience about how to proceed in daily life grounding which is very important . Do not isolate your self , do not stay home and watch tv, do not reject offers for going out with friends because you are not in a mood or feel anxiety .Accept every opportunity for activity that comes or even create them if it is necessary - clean the basement , paint your auntie's room or renovate your bathroom . Stop focus on your self , help others even in hard for you times :)
Good luck and be sure that you are on the right way - every suffering is purifying and creative -like now you dig these forums and this will lead you to improvement and evolution .Trust the Divine as you are part of it. You wouldn't be reading this if your life was nice and easy

Thanks NewbieGG and pkj for effective advice.
As NewbieGG has pointed and that is the problem that i cannot mix easily with others, and i know this cannot be changed overnight, what i do is i always trying to restore the repressed desire and to compensate it in thought.
Some of the points which i try to do is, i was much interested to be a doctor but due to family politics and my aggressive desire to know truth i couldn't be a doctor. So what i do is correspondence course related to alternative medicine. It gives me general awareness about all body parts anatomy,physiology and about different diseases. Though i know that i cannot be a doctor, but it is a top up knowledge which will help to heal my kundalini problems.
As you have suggested to paint auntie's room, that is the problem, i have lost my mother when i was 2.5 years in age, that was not a problem for me until i faced severe health problem after my intermediate. I was unable to express my problems in front of my father as he was a very angry-men and he was giving focus on his elder son, so i was a neglected person in my family. My hope for being a doctor suppressed by severe artificial economic problems. That time i missed my mother a lot thinking that had there my mother then this type of partiality wouldn't have been there.I started reading many spiritual books including raja yoga book.
Anyway other reasons are also there for which the kundalini leads to dangerous situation because i wanted to commit suicide.
Some doctors may be there in this forum, who can suggest about, whenever my bowel movement is proper then i feel breathing equal in both nostril. That means some nerve in right side may have got pressed and trying to deviate the septum of the nostril rightwards. Can this nerve be activated.
Shortness of breathing i thought was due to CO2 but as per biologyofkundalini.com in which reasearch happened on JIM stated that excessive ammonia is the cause. Can anybody suggest for the specialised herbs because the way suggested in above links is matching with me as my annual medical checkup showing high amount of uric acid.

Hello ddingal, it sound like a big mess my friend . You need a deep house cleaning may be even destroy the house and build a new one block by block . Religion - what is it , where it leads , can it be replaced , do you need any . Family - good one , bad one or just another one , hate your father or accept him as he is - human being on a certain evolutionary level doing his best according this level . Your modest person - who are you , are you doing the right things .Behind all illness stands wrong concept and negative emotion. You need to simplify the situation . How can you achieve simplicity -TRUST THE DIVINE , IT IS NOT TRYING TO KILL YOU IT IS PURIFYING YOU !!! Do always your best in every situation that comes and develop your intuition .If you learn to follow intuition , if you do always your best what else is there ? You will be living at your full potential for the moment , end of story :)
There is no medicine or doctor or secret method for energy symptoms .The energy it self is of highest intelligence and it will clear the blockages if you assist instead of resist .It takes time , sometimes years.Meditate. Do the healthiest possible eating ( research on it ), drink a lot of water , exercise . Massage or acupuncture worth trying . There are self acupressure hand massages (research on it) . Check very carefully your standing posture - back , neck and head straight in line ? Chest and shoulders wide open or downfacing .Open chest and shoulders are very important , there are special methods to achieve proper stand - research on that . If you do all this the rest is surrender and trust . Next time when trouble(healing crisis) arise try that - open your arms wide , smile and say " no problem , I can live this " :)

Thanx NewbieGG i have faith on god as mother. And i am in the process of surrendering her. A lot of improvement also being achieved.Last 12 years i was alone until i read about kundalini syndrome and ayp site on 2012. Problem is practicing this type of pranayama was also against my will as to substitute to convince self. Second is in the way of devine if this type of suffering is there then whether am i upward or downward ?Let me clear there are many people who are not aware of kundalini and living happily and i have tried my best but faced problem.If a nonpracticing people start practicing in properway then he may surpass me when i am still captured in midway neither can go back nor forward. Then the question is why i did this, i should not have practiced and where is bonus point from divine for this type of suffering? It seems as i have moved to negative zone and i have go to zero point then to move towards positive so unnecessary delay in journey and there should be justification for these suffering.One thing i give answer to self is through this suffering i am acquiring knowledge and destruction of ego. But this could have been done in smooth way if proper guidance have been there.My demand on divine is that with no fault i am getting so much suffering then proper justification is my right to know.

Earlier i stated that i wanted to be a doctor.If proper analysis is done i am missing pure love like love from a mother.I get compensation of this love from cow, small child as they are innocent.I believe love has power to balance all energy and emotion.

This suffering is not wasted - it is evolution on fast forward . Imagine that your destiny and karma is to suffer a lifetime ! No escape , no chance to live easy happy life. Would you like that ? Instead now you have awaken soul and there is a chance for you to be free ! Soon or a later . Everyone is preconditioned different , for people like you and me the way is hard , you have to accept that .I was in depression panic attacks nightmare- living hell when i have awakened my K . I had zero information back then- just intuition and all the experiences were positive and comforting . I would wake up at night shaking from the energy , tension and heat, pain in stomach or heart and elsewhere , but I had no fear or dilemma - I knew it's all good and K is cleaning me . Later I started to read a lot in internet and the troubles and fear explode , there is so much unnecessary information and misinformation all over...Don't spend much time reading and searching around . This forum is quite enough . Focus on surrender and understand that there were no easy options for you . The one you living now is probably the easiest :)

Thanx NewbieGG, if i am right, you have realised that bliss which every aspirant wants to get. I am only thinking about clinical diagnosis of high uric acid and high eosinophillic count and above all excess body heat.I reduced uric acid producing diet and planning to control eosinophillia.I don't take allopathy medicine even for severe problems so for above problems also chances of taking medicine is very less.Only want a confirmation that all problems are due to kundalini otherwise i have to repent later for neglecting self without medication.

You are covering both areas, are you not? Taking your medication and doing a little yoga practice every day?
Make sure you you don't overdo practices - you need to find the practice level where your kundalini energy is manageable and doesn't cause you problems.
What is your daily yoga routine?

Hi BlueRaincoat i am not taking any medicines.Only diagnosis of physical symptoms being done which shows high uric acid related to body heat and burning above right hip and high eosinophillia related to right side nostril swelling. Sometime involuntary shaking of whole body observed with a flash sensation that i am back with all power but later again nerve slowed down. Walking, bicycle riding helping me reducing body heat.As already 15 years past, and i couldn't restore self to original that prompting me to think that there may be some permanent disability.
Prior practicing pranayama there was severe joint pain but after kundalini syndrome developed the joint pain vanished.
Regarding practice i am doing sudarshan kriya of Art of living and chantimg aum to cool down.It seems that right side all parts got lifted up like kidney, lungs squeezed up, nasal cavity truncated up at right side. I am trying to push all the things of rightside to the original position and for that my intuition telling me to modify AUM to IMMMMM which gives command to the stucked things at right side palate to move down. Some improvement being done but not fully.
This process may continue long but i want to accelerate the things either it to be normalized or reach at its destiny and needs confirmation that all symptoms are related to kundalini.

I have done a search for sudarshan kria.
It appears to consists of a lot of pranayama, including bhastrika, which is a very strong practice. For how long do you practice each of these breathing techniques every day? Do you do any meditation?
It seems to me that you are overstimulating your kundalini. If you cut back on pranayama and balance it with meditation, I think there is a good chance you will feel a lot more balanced.

Give us more details and especially the timing of each practice and we'll be in a better position to advise.

Ddingal it's all kundalini be sure and no there is no way back you will never "normalize" . The only way is keep going and finish the mutation which you already started and in the end you will be better version of your self . Don't seek sophisticated practices -the divine all purpose tool is meditation . My advice is stop any other practices and establish a breath focused meditation daily . If you feel stable add some(just few breaths) pranayam as warm up for your meditation .This practice did miracles for me as it cleared severe blockages one after another.Parallel with that you need to drop old concepts grasp better ones and in the end drop them as well :)

Thanx BlueRaincoat. I am practicing this from 2011 but the symptom is not activated from sudarshan kriya. Sudarshan kriya has two types one is long sudarshan and short sudarshan. I am practicing short one. Presently i am not keeping breath inside only slow intake and slow exhale alongwith meditation. But in fact in meditation mind is going to different places and i gradually follow it without restricting. I belief in lord buddha, Sri Maa Sri Aurovindo, and Sarada Devi(Spiritual companion of Sri Ramakrishna).
I need to share other things also.Immediately after intermediate due to negligence of family i was in a situation that i was virtually talking with self. My conscience was telling to become a monk as nobody of my own can understood me. All are slave of their mind and i can go beyond mind to find the reason of mothers death. If god is there then why all this suffering? it appears like somebody taking amuse of these suffering. Then question came why i am thinking that i can go beyond mind why others are'nt thinking in the same way? Who is my own?
Mother is always good.Every women is potentially mother, then all women are good. What is the problem of women? Why vivekananda rejected women if they are good. My father was not caring me but i have duty to look after him at his old age(Indian Culture). If i will be a monk i cannot do that.
Why vivekananda giving instruction to die for others when i dont know the purpose of life?
Later throughout these 15 years i could answer my questions gradually and after several situation it is revealed that at initial point what my conscience was telling is 100% truth. It was telling not to listen Vivekananda, not to practice pranayama, only to chant aum and surrender divine mother. Why i didn't listened to self is that i wanted confirmation from external agency but there was none who can understood me.Repeatedly i approached Ramakrishna Mission but no result rather their excessive administrative approach disappointed me.
Conscience guided me unwillingly for my breathing practice during my initial severe health problems and empathizing in all difficulties which nobody can know externally. It is still guiding me and reminding me not listening it. I respect spiritual systems which allow to listen self, ayp is one of them.Others like lord buddha, Sri aurovindo are of this category.
Coming to daily practice generally i do in evening for half an hour for all package of slight stretching exercise, followed by short sudarshan kriya. I can stop this. I was doing only to convince self that i am doing something to heal self.
Reading and writing in this forum a strong hope is making foundation inside me. Best thing is that atleast i can write to them who can realize my problems.
