Maybe some of us are interested in the scientific research on consciousness.
In 1989 I read Penrose's book "The Emperors New Mind" in which he was suggesting his new theory of consciousness. It was very controversial in that time. But today I was reading this in phys.org (a study from S.Hameroff and R.Penrose)

Both ask this question :

"The origin of consciousness reflects our place in the universe, the nature of our existence. Did consciousness evolve from complex computations among brain neurons, as most scientists assert? Or has consciousness, in some sense, been here all along, as spiritual approaches maintain?"

The short version of their conclusion is this:

Their evidence suggests that conscious experience is intrinsically connected to the fine-scale structure of space–
time geometry, AND that consciousness could be deeply related to the operation of the laws of the universe.
