Thank you, Maheswari, for your post on surrender and morning prayer. So I will surrender this poem to the Lord.

Heavy Armor

Under sun’s uncanny stare
And moon’s enchanting glow,
Ethers put on airs;
Far off mountains echo.

My steed faltered,
So I made parlay
With friend and foe.
Dismounted, I swayed.

And I saw illumined welkin.
Cuirass rang with sheen
As the bonds loosed.
Unclad, I let it sink.

For it had bound me.
It had tied me back,
Impeding my power
To forgive attack.

My soul had suffered rage
To coax me to my knees.
I lay on softest grass,
Tasting purest breeze.

I still bear heavy hammer
And sharpened sword of war
But pray to live so that
I carry them no more.
