So-hi, you will be blown away by the beauty of the turquoise waters of where I live. Guaranteed.

By the way - psychologists are few in Seychelles and very recent. When you have a problem, you go sit by the ocean. Everybody knows that. |

Hey Ocean Girl when it comes to you and your beautiful Ocean I have no doubt it is just that way! I am certain you have enchanted many a man with your beauty and spirit.
I will share more of what it is to be a Mountain Man
THE OCEAN:
For some they take their problems to the Ocean, my Mother is like this.
For me the Ocean is a place where my problems with incarnating in the first place reveal themselves and I realize I am such a young and brutally uncompromising soul that rails against forgetting in between lives and like a child refuses to put up with let alone be changed by the system.
I protest and if it were to be put in words it would go something like this.
I reserve the right to protest your honor and furthermore object to the modification of my original true self by taking up bodies and incarnating as a psychologically limited puppet upon that stage called Earth.
That form with it's primitive brain and nervous system is like turning me into a victim with all those hideous limitations and to make matters worse while I am there I cannot even remember what the limitations all are.
I do not agree with the system and it is barbaric and unjust.
The reply would probably go something like this. Okay you have had your say it changes nothing prepare to be lobotomized and serve a life sentence of oh lets say 85 years maybe just 65 with time off for good behavior and compliance. The only way you get to come back sooner is if you work hard at it.
Escort him to the womb.
Final thoughts ok fine then but I am not gonna like it and I am not gonna forget either!
Somehow the Oceans of the continental United States just come off as lonely, uncomfortable, gritty, salty, uncomfortable sun burning stretches of border where land gives way to noisy hyperactive water noise and unrest. Here there be thirst but no cool clean stream to sip from yet there is this not usable water crashing in violence.
The shore is a very busy place you know with all the life forms scurrying about and everything doing it's best to either eat or avoid being eaten.
I often feel bad for the little things crawling on the sand as they scurry away in fright from the giant (ME) I mean them no harm yet they are terrified anyway and I think this is their place I am an intruder.
I see people swimming in the water and hear of shark attacks and think you fools what did you expect? When was the last time you saw a cow walking in your supermarket or a pig or even a carrot so much as voluntarily entering our supermarkets?
Then there are the dead things washed up on then land and I think this is because of mankind and we have made the waters a poison place for these poor things.
I have been out on the Ocean during the day and during the night in small craft think less than 40 feet long. I have broken down many miles from shore awaiting rescue. Only to with luck and skill rescue myself.
Many times I have been upon the water many times boats have broken down and the unmistakable conclusion is humans do not belong in the ocean because it will end your life.
Still for all that I would describe what it is like to be 30 miles out from shore.
One can see clearly that the earth is round as the Horizon curves. The waters for the most part are still and there is an alien beauty to it, the sun is too strong the wind is to harsh, the air too humid and the water toxic to drink and unsuitable to bath in and the sun to merciless this reminds me that this is not my home I am here visiting.
Then when A storm comes I feel comforted like someone I know is coming to visit me out here. The temperature drops drastically the burn of the sun replaced by cold winds and a shadow giving the eyes relief and a challenge is thrown up to survive against.
There is something about it that speaks to me and says remember do you see do you remember now you came here and see how odd it is so different?
And then I would think yes but if I could only remember what normal really is this would not be so bad. I COULD TREAT IT MORE LIKE A VACATION AND I GUESS THAT IS THE WHOLE POINT IN ORDER TO BE BE FULLY ENGAGED YOU HAVE TO FORGET AS MUCH AS YOU CAN OR ELSE THE LESSONS OF BEING HERE ARE DILUTED.
When I experience this I grow uncomfortable as I realize you know this earth it really is not home it really is a place of conditional existence and it really is an odd thing to be alive here.
At night in the deepest pitch blackness one can imagine you get a companion over the still dark water of the depths and you realize my God but there are miles of water beneath this boat yet here I am on top as an honored guest and a flea sitting on a bowling ball at the same time.
But there is a companion here the Moon and the moon is larger than you have ever seen it from land it is so big and full and it is as if you could reach out and touch it, the moon is so beautiful and big and friendly yet cold and sterile.
Then I think ah but why the illusion this is a perception based on a conditional life form where everything without exception is based upon and codependent with myriad contributing factors.
This is all so very real and yet at the same time it is not. The reality is the motion of cooperation that keeps the contributing sustaining cooperative factors in motion and once the inertia of that is lost all else falls like a tower of wooden blocks.
A leak in the boot around the inboard outboard motor and the failure of the bilge pump and all will change in drastic fashion as the boat sinks.
Yet still this alien landscape will persist. There is beauty for certain but the reality of incarnating here is in such stark relief.
CONDITIONAL all conditional and you know there is a certain loneliness to that because I feel sad about being here in this conditional place, oh I have long ago grown to accept it and when the conditions change and body is no longer inhabitable I will not lament departing it.
It is a feeling of the futility of having taken up incarnation in the first place as nothing has ever been satisfying for long, nothing has endured the years have taken many whom I once knew and loved and they continue to do so. My once beautiful bride is now an old lady and I an old man.
I rather resent the way of things, being trapped in a body that will continue to become a worse place to witness from but in a way that is ok also as I never really appreciated it being in it when it was young either.
So no the Ocean brings no comfort only a stark reminder of the reality of the situation of a conditional existence which is predicated upon oh so many things.
When I see the moon on the still ocean waters I want to reach out and go there to become the unconditional thing which animates this cage leap free of predicated co dependance upon so many limiting variables and just be.
THE Mountains:
In a word "Home"
Here there is stillness there are scents of the trees the land and growing things.
I can feel the life all around me there are souls in various degrees of maturity and these souls unlike the fish and the sharks and crab and marine life in general are more like the form I inhabit and there is some unspoken feeling of family between us.
I look in Rabbits eyes and see desire, fear, hope love. In the eyes of a fish a cold barely conscious soul.
Yet Fish and Rabbit are here. In brother fox I see cunning and a sense of humor, In Sister Wolf love and companionship Motherhood, Brother Bear is to be avoided he is a grumpy unpredictable hungry sort and there is savage killing but it is not for sport or argument between each other or to take the lands of another or to dominate ones own kind it is for eating and surviving, This is just the way of things.
The earth here is good and fertile the snow is cold and pristine beautiful sparkling the air dry and crisp and the sky majestic blue with heavy clouds.
There are rocks to climb fallen hollowed out trees and unexpected places to see and explore each horizon brings some new beauty and wonder it may be an enchanted field of emerald moss and spider webs full of mornings dew.
Breathtaking and beautiful to behold and in your heart a sense of supreme gratitude for God recognizing and appreciating the gift of such beauty and feeling privileged among all of Gods people to be the only one here to receive such grandeur in mine eyes my heart and my soul.
It gives deep love and appreciation for the gift of incarnating here no matter how little time one is given to be here. There is a bitter sweet recognition that no matter how many moments like this there will never be enough and at the same time the wisdom that nothing this precious can last as it will become mundane such is the rocky flint which a soul is inhabiting that nothing great may endure wither eroded by time or familiarity.
If you are skilled and cunning you can live here in peace free of disease brought on by close co-habitating with overpopulated centers of human congregation.
Here you can live without the pressure of so many minds and personalities around and the stillness and quiet are your ally. Here you either observe what is and survive or you die.
Here you can die honestly by accident or by serving the hunger of another but you can at least defend and perhaps make a meal out of the one attacking.
Here you can lie on Mother Earth and cry and be solaced.
Here you can mix your bones with your ancestors and give back everything you have ever taken in return so others may take up form in this realm and exist.
Here in these mountains I can appreciate the beauty of Gods creation and not only feel a welcome part of it but also welcome the modifications to my original true self without protest.
Here one can be at peace and at one with being here incarnate in flesh and somehow in this landscape of conditions it is just alright and more than acceptable.
Here you can be alive and if you have a small community od spiritual minded fellowship you may be a monk.
It is home.
In this life I have been privileged to visit home very rarely and appreciate it even more for the brevity of it all.
To me the Ocean cannot compare it is a desert of sand and useless water and grocery store to those primitives that inhabit it.
I can accept the feelings of others and respect them as well but not feel them in my heart the way the mountains speak to me. |

Hi So-Hi,
Lovely post and perfect smilies . Like you, the mountains feels home here. It's probably got to do with growing up in the foot hills of the Himalayas. They are majestic, innocent, beautiful. They transport me to Dev Loka.. Now I live 50 mins to the closest Ocean. Ocean is grounding, soothing, rejuvenating. I'm always the first to get in the water as soon as we get there. Hear about shark bites all the time but the moment I see the serene ocean, the thought disappears.
May be the preference depends on where one spends their childhood. Prefer the mountains but I'm in awe with both their beauty. The mountains have more high vibrational energy.

Hi So-Hi,
If you get a chance you should. You won't be disappointed. Some of the peak experiences that I've had with spiritual practices and awakening, when I reflect they are the same when I would sit on the bench and gaze at the Himalayas for hours. I would often wonder if there were people meditating there. The silence and ecstatic conductivity was abiding even then, which slowly faded away in the process of being an adult. And now it's back , it's good to be home.. Thanks, Yogani. |

LOL..Charliedog. It may be individual preference as well. What one resonates with. To a Surfer the ocean may be the mountain/Himalayas.. There are mountains in the ocean..right? |

All of nature is beautiful. Of all places I have been, (never was in the Himalayas) the highest vibrational energy was felt on Bali.
At home I can be almost everywhere but it is very nice to sit and see the sunrise above the ocean, those are the very special moments in my life
It was two years ago on Bali, I went to the beach every morning before sunrise, the sky was deep violet. Mostly I was the only one there, just sitting, sometimes with a dog beside me, those silent moments just before the sun shows up, ahh so beautiful. |

I do love the mountain as well. In Seychelles we have both. And truth be told I would be hard press to say which one is my greatest love.
Lying on your back in bathtub-warm turquoise waters on a sunny day is like being in mother Earth's womb; Ears under water, you are rocked by gentle caressing waves; you feel nurtured, safe, loved...oh so loved. You taste the sun and the salt on your lips; you dare not open your eyes else the blue, blue cloudless sky spins you out of time.

Darn girl I was seeing all kinds of nice stuff with you laying in the water like that! Around 5 feet 2 inches tall, Slim but well built, nice proportions even coming into middle age, dark hair pretty face beautiful green to brown eyes, glowing brown skin and sensuous movements just being yourself stretching under the water as you lounge and stretch enjoying just being and not putting on a show for anyone. Nice smile with dark red lips and white teeth to boot!
You guys... er gals will never believe it, I was just offered a job now get this up in the mountains!
I was talking to a long time contact, a vendor of mine about an order and laughed saying just what the hell would you do with an employee like me anyway!?
He became serious.
I will be meeting with the perhaps new employer next month.

hello jusmail,
yes, i have meditated in an abandoned gold quarry mine up the mountain near the town where i live. rumor has it the prospectors never found gold, but there is a large quantity of quartz crystal.
i've had some good experiences there, including a visit with some people that i knew, but don't really know. after awhile one of the glowing princess-like characters asked me how i got home, at which point i found myself back in my body in the cave.
it did get cold, as it was damp, and the air got stale after awhile.. not the best location for pranayam. but dead silent.. and pitch black. i suppose the sensory deprivation was an experience unto itself. |

It's very interesting to see how greatly one's environment can influence the meditation. I've never considered meditating in a mine where there is a lot of crystal around but it definitely sounds interesting.
I've also wondered how it must be like to meditate within the sarcophagus of the great pyramid in Egypt. Apparently, it's the energetic center of the entire pyramid, which is why many people experience powerful states of meditation. |
