Light!
Not pain
But a vision of pleasure
Rocking and rolling pain
The circuits clicking
Electricity communicating
This way that way
No short circuits in my brain
Darkness pain!
My first short circuit
In my rocking and rolling brain
Time, more short circuits
A result of more bad pain
Where is my brain
Light, dim and dimming
I know I think
I’m not seeing
Inside there is me
Outside is someone
But not me
Time more short circuits
Another bad experience
Where is my brain
Waiting and watching
Something has to change
More pain
Something is happening in my brain

Short circuits opening
Electricity running
Communciating

I, too, sing America
I am the darker brother
They send me to eat in the kitchen
When company comes.
But I laugh
And eat well
And grow strong.
Tomorrow
I’ll sit at the table
When company comes
Nobody’ll dare
