I don't know if anyone else here has figured this out, but some days is just impossible to practice. So we sit and try to figure out what it is. We know we are not the ego and its distractions. Yet from somewhere is some sort of block that doesnt allow us to practice.

Was wondering if anyone here has put their finger on it?

Perhaps its some physical aspect like a general malaise of the body. I've even found specific foods and amounts have to be watched for they have huge impacts in meditations

true food affects spiritual practices at least in the begining and intermediate stages of the path...just follow your intuition in this regard...eat the food that you feel like eating
as for days where it seems impossible to meditate, these are the best days to meditate cause lots of obstructions will be removed...dont sit and try to figure out the reason for this unease(another trick by the mind) , just do your practice
we are not the ego and its distractions but we dont want to annihilate the ego and its distractions,we want to go beyound them, and the only way to do it succesfully is to welcome whatever the ego is saying, welome it with love, let it tell its stories without identifiying with them, and soon enough it will pass....
one question fo you: how do you feel when doing daily activities?
