i've read enough
read enough to know all the angles
the non-identity removal transcendence ego freedom end of suffering jargon

yes, i know all the angles
i can spit out the rhetoric like a well-fed tape machine
dancing on the emptiness of adyashanti, torturing my mind with cleverness and verbal algorithms

and i know the techniques
the meditation, the yoga, the self-inquiry, right thought and right action
living a life of service devoted to the evolution of consciousness and humanity

but i would give it all up
for one moment--
just one moment:

to die in the voice of an ancient call from a family of wolves
howling wildly into the night, with no language or knowledge,
only the gutteral vibration of their cry
cursing the creator for making a life destined to fail.

for the ecstatic pain of their moan, i would pay the highest price.
