Hi every one,
for the past a couple of days, I've been taking tulsi tea (from Organic India) by chance and found that's the only tea I feel very balancing and calming. At the same time, I also have kundalini activities every night of the a couple of days that I drank tulsi. Besides other reasons (having an overload recently), I somehow feel that tulsi has been acting as a kundalini aid, stimulating kundalini while (kind of) balancing it. Does anyone else has similar experience? Shall I continue to use it?
I also have a related question, why almost all the kundalini activities happened from midnight on, till dawn. I was born at midnight, does that relate to this?
I would appreciate any input!
Namaste!

Hi Phila,
Don't know about the midnight thingy... It happens on and off throughout all the day over here... But maybe this happens with you because it's the time where you are more aware of yourself and at ease unlike doing work all day... As for Tulsa tea, I've found from personal experience that all hot drinks are kundalini stimulants...

Hi Ananda, yes I agree with you on the cause. And Hatha Teacher, thanks for the recommendation. I just found a page from Chopra's website on tulsi, here's a brief summary:
"In terms of the Ayurvedic doshas, tulsi carries the bitter, pungent, and astringent tastes and generates a warming influence on the physiology. The herb is predominantly Kapha-reducing, but it can also be used to pacify Vata and Pitta. However, it can have a mildly Pitta-aggravating effect in individuals who are severely overheated."

I think I'll backup just a bit--it's too good an herb:)

Many say that Coffee and Tea because of the coffein doesn't help the kundalini progress.. and some say that coffein can overexcite one's kundalini.. which is more true I wonder? |

Hi Ichigo
I haven't drunk coffee in years. However, I did have a cup the other day and I did feel quite a bit of bliss and kundalini moving around the body.
Not sure about it being bad though.... I drink plenty of tea and my practice seems fine. Although I can't really compare my practice if I didn't drink tea .
I say have a little bit of what you enjoy.... as long as it is safe, of course . |

Thanks for your reply :)
I am asking this because I remember the day I did my pranayama practice I had a kundalini experience and I remember drinking coffee just before my practice.. and then reading stuff on the internet to avoid such drinks I really stopped my self from enjoying it for a couple of weeks.. XD |

I have not found that coffee has any impact on Kundalini. But, any stimulant can effect the ego/mind, so the energy perception could change.

Hi woosa, what kind of tea do you drink? Green tea and black tea, for example, have different effects on the dosa of a person. There's a list of K related herbs on Kundalini Biology, which is interesting to check out: http://biologyofkundalini.com/artic...ory=HerbList |

Hi Phil
I just drink the usual 'builder's' tea - black tea. Although I can't drink a lot of it - 2 cups max a day. I just don't feel like it. Like it's too stimulating.
Funny you mention green tea, I just got some today to drink instead.
Had some more coffee today. Getting used to a full work schedule is tricky! . And the energetic effects are a lot less today. I guess if you were experiencing k overload and you had a strong coffee you might run into trouble! (I wonder what Yerba Mate is like)
With regards to doshas I don't take much notice as I don't have the time or the money to have an ayurvedic diet of nice foods! Maybe in the future... I just go with what intuition I have (and what's at hand). |
