is, "Why This Discussion?" It is also recommended you read
from the beginning of this tantra yoga archive. The first lesson is, "What is tantra yoga?"
Q: Whenever I urinate I get a strong energy rush up my spine and into my head. Is this
something that you are familiar with? Why is this related to urinating? It's been going on
for months. It doesn't bother me in any way. It is kind of amusing. Just wondering if you
have heard of such a thing.
A: It is a good thing. The energy going up the spine during urination is the beginning of
kundalini sensitivity. As spiritual sensitivity rises, this can be experienced by both men
and women, though having it during urination is not an absolute prerequisite for the rise
of broad-based ecstatic kundalini experiences.
When the time is ripe, the energy going up the spine may be felt during other kinds of
activity too, including sexual relations. The emotions can stimulate it as well the
bhakti connection in our spiritual anatomy. The experiences will gradually expand in your
neuro-biology as you continue with yoga practices.
At this stage, as the urine passes through the changing sensitivity in the prostate, the
energy goes up the spinal nerve. It is an indication of an opening occurring in your
nervous system. In time, the stimulation will be there without urination, and you will be
filled with ecstatic energy all the time. It is intimately involved with the evolution of
our sexual function, which is the same as the awakening of kundalini.
All of the advanced yoga practices are for stimulating this transformation to higher
functioning on every level in us.
The guru is in you.

scope of yoga practices and the enlightenment process,
