ha ha. Good thing you didn't say the phallic stage, because I'd have to ask when the performance is.

Saves a lot of energy too. I put a timer on my water heater so it only runs a couple hours each day. (has to be electric)

wow!

great to catch breath here again divine emc, etherfish, louis, anthony, paul, salvation and all the divine dolphins here together. love and blessings of each to each in abundance and enjoyed grace.

aum

the sacred element of water that flows with mother earth integrating realms that hold fire and extreme cold as temperatures in each unique place we each are in holds the sensual divine realities- the subtle alive in the gross and the awake unions.

offering the essence of body as the highest offerings of supreme surrender, we shrug to be the spirit offering our body as the past to acquire blessings of the new.

when a yogi throws the mind to acquire the mindless mind of turiya, the body is enwrapped in tapasic fire that allows our intense consciousness to slip into being the water element and knowing her as goddess ganga and in a deeper inhale, climbing through body sheaths to reach source as sivahood knowing spirit just bathing the love-body that enshrines it.

yogic insight shared-

- first allow the cold water to flow through the tap before switching over to the shower.

- allow the cold/room temperature water to flow below and allow the feet to feel the water and embrace the 'cold'.

- imagine this to be the baptism like the christ awaken as us through st john the baptiste, grace of water flowing.

- bending your head below, putting both hands together to form a cup, take the water and put the water gently over your 'sarasu', the upper part of our crown chakra.

- when pouring the water on the most sacred place, the sarasu, we experience ourselves in innocence of knowing the body and th spirit that we are.
the sarasu is the soft part on the upper most part of our skull, the sacred spot through which life flows into the baby. the awake yogis are of this route, the knowers- hence death is a friend and in event of having to leave the body, this conscious exit gate enables the blessed siddhars to be the master of life knowing death's pathway. this science enables conscious exit as wisdom in being life force enabling higher grace to transmigrate, from one body to another or simply 'exit' to enter into the womb with the knowing as an infant.
on daily basis, when we offer our life as surrender and pour water three times on this spot just before surrendering the whole body to water, this wisdom blossoms as our inner knowing and the daily discipline as the journey.

- now open the shower and allow the water to hit our sarasu as we stand up and allow the water to flow head to body.

- go around as a circle surrendering the 'body', the 'past', the karma to the running water.

- open your arms and let the sacred water flow through our armpits- karma residues are washed off well- especially bad health karma.

- sing our mantras.

- ideal mantras are the guru mantras. nandhi favourite shower mantra is 'guru brahma, guru visnu, guru devo maheswara....!!!" if you have live gurus or spiritual masters, imagine your guru pouring the water- water from source and just surrender the body into the joy of receiving and giving away.

- wash the feet well as it stores all the lower level karmas. the entire history of evolution is within us- the feet represent insects and slowly we reach to be the animal-like in the muladhara and above from the navel chakra onwards, we are the angelic beings, chakra by chakra evolving and sacred water energies conveying transforming energies through each.

- the muladhara stores desires and the sacred waters in the natural temperatures of mother earth washes away what does not belong to the divine purpose sticking through our karmic mesh of whom we are.

- ending the sacred shower, feeling ourselves as the ultimate fruit of worship to be offered to lord siva, may the awake spirit now perform the ultimate most seductive love making with the divine as lord siva worshiping lord siva with goddess sakti, the experience of entwined union.

- may the sacred puja of purpose as human be awake, the soul as wisdom enabling the tranquil intellect to be the eternal yogi.

as blessed in the sacred waters, may we each be in peace, free and in celebrated human form.

aum namah sivaya

jai guruve thunai

with folded hands and love! anbe sivam

We are busy taking cold showers, yet always with you, now and forever!

There's a wonderful commercial ad in Stockholm right now saying

"How WE are you?"

A beautiful reminder pasted on the walls of the city...

Just wanted to say, this cold shower thing is great!!! I have always loved hot, hot showers but I'm always game for trying new things. It's been a week now and right now I feel that I will probably never take a hot shower again if I can help it. A nice quick cold shower clears my mind, settles my nerves, and gives me a nice lift in energy.

Thanks for the recommendation

divine ones,

along with the season of fall is the temperature of 'cold' water that is more accomodating to the body at this moment. more like a blunt knife cutting away the soft cake of karma as water in its cleansing does.

is the mind readying the body for this sublime spiritual indulgence of the cold shower through the winter?:)is the soul experience of joys in the cold shower able to latch on to the discipline through the seasons hot and cold?

this is a moment of awareness. much like the time of readying for the leap. the perceived time clock and the eternal clock of self must find warmth within the united moment of cold showers!

to the joys and celebrations of the cold showers! cheers!

joy splashing through each in the warmth of knowing, the daily journey into the oneness realm!

i think a cold water bath, while i cant say for good or bad, would be different than a cold water shower. in a shower, the beads of water are hitting you in a pulse whereas a cold bath is static and i think would give more to in my mind an unpleasant cold. also, the fact that your upper body is not constantly submerged as in a shower would make a difference as well.

Hi cold shower takers,
Logically speaking, if cold showers are good, so should sleeping without blankets, right? Animals don't wrap themselves with a blanket while sleeping and their skin naturally protects them and maintains their temperature. Aren't we humans by using blanket, making the skin slack from doing its job of temperature regulation?
Ever notice animals have a much looser skin compared to humans ? Could this be because of the external protection we depend upon?
Btw I spent a sleepless night without the blanket last night :-(

it is a popular theory that our skin in relation to its attachment or lack of to the muscles and bones owes itself to the idea that we were partially aquatic animals at a point in history. this contradicts the popular Savana ape theory and suggests that we actually spent a lot more time in water. look up Aquatic Ape Theory, it lends fascinating insight into our noses, skin, ability to walk upright, and most interestingly to give birth.

greetings of love and the embrace of warmth as knowing!

as winter rolls with the body shrugging awake from the cold to the warmth of the cosmic cave each morning, its the yogic observation to go through the cold shower. perhaps the time to know the spirit as the dweller of the body and surrender to the inner fire of tumo that enables the dissolved mind in its union with source that has transcended the body's cozy needs.

wonder how each of our cold showers are doing!:)

all in perfect grace as the flow!

I have to confess to backing off a little from cold showers. I live Maryland and it gets pretty cold here this time of year. Sometimes if I have enough hot water I will do the Taoist shower and alternate between hot and cold...but I always end on hot :-)

I like to end on cold because it "seals the heat in" by closing the pores. But not always the coldest possible due to our winter mountain temperatures.

I dare to finish my warm shower with a cold rush. I especially enjoy the ice cold water on the top of my head... Then, from a profound dizzy state I am aware of the body that somehow in slow motion floats out of the tub, dries itself and continues to brush its teeth, and continues to fix breakfast... Then I'm aware of my room mate, newly awake and equally dizzy but for another reason, stepping into the shower, and then... there's this perception of a sharp yell... Oh, those lovely cold showers...

Yes, I've been doing it regularly and find it great.

Been so impressed with it that I have passed it on to many friends.
Such a clean clear feeling in the energy afterwards.

I often find stroking the body with a face cloth feels like stroking away the accumulated stagnant energies. Then when changed to cold the stroking again seems to go deeper and so on.

Usually I only change a couple of times because of time.
We have an electric shower so I don't go fully cold at this time of year, just turn it down to the setting below and it gets cold but not freezing.

Also, start with the lower legs and feet, as you suggest and then go the crown visualising the energy coming down through the body.
Lovely, thanks Nandhi
