Tantra and Erectile Dysfunction (Audio)

It is recommended you read from the beginning of this tantra yoga archive,
as previous lessons are prerequisite to this one. The first lesson is, "What
is tantra yoga?"
Q: I would like to seek your advice on the
holdback and blocking methods. I am 55 years old and have a problem with
early ejaculation, which has been a problem all along for me and my wife. I
can usually hold out for about 5 minutes at most. I started using the
holdback method recently, and it seems to be working quite well delaying
orgasm and ejaculation. But the problem is I can't stay hard after a while.
It's the same for the blocking method. I can manage the control of
ejaculation, but immediately after 'its' dead. Your advice most appreciated.
A: Sounds like you are doing well with the tantric techniques. It takes
time to settle in and gain the full results. Tantric methods will work best
in conjunction with twice-daily sitting practices as covered in the main AYP
lessons deep meditation, spinal breathing pranayama, etc.
It is
normal to lose erection after orgasm, including with blocking. Gaining
experience with holdback can greatly increase staying power. You are on the
right track with that.
Regarding maintaining erection prior to
orgasm, and for erectile issues in general, that is somewhat outside the
scope of AYP. Some suggestions may be available in the Tantra section of the
online AYP Support Forums, where
many issues related to sex are discussed. You can also seek professional
help, if it is important for your marriage. But this will have little
bearing on your progress in yoga, which is neither dependent on erections
nor a cause of erectile dysfunction. Do keep in mind that the older we get,
the less utility there is for reproductive sex, contrary to the macho images
(and drug prescriptions) we are bombarded with in the media. It may be
better to be enlightened in old age than to be macho, though we can
certainly find ways to do both if the motivation is there.
Wishing
you all the best on your continuing path. Practice wisely, and enjoy!
The guru is in you.
