Hi all,
Last month I posted to let everyone know that we are planning to create a new AYP Public forum on a modern platform, with better layout and functionality. The plan then was to simply start a new forum and to leave this one where it is as an archive, until such time that it is no longer feasible to preserve it on the internet.
However, since making that announcement, several people, including Yogani, have said that it would be really good to move all the posts and discussions from this forum to the new platform, so that all the posting here can be saved and existing discussions can continue uninterrupted. This would mean that the full content of this forum (around 167,000 posts) would be brought over onto the new platform.
This current forum is running on an outdated database and is using an old data model. To bring everything over to a new modern platform will require a new custom program to be written to make the switch. The cost of doing that is US $3,000.
If we are able to do this, it would future-proof the Public AYP Forum for the foreseeable future, as it will be transferred to a modern database. Posting on this platform would be closed so that all discussions and new posting can continue on the new platform.
Some of the advantages of using a new platform will be: Better look and feel, mobile friendly, access via apps (iPhone and Android), notifications of replies and new posts, tagging, likes, and multi-threading.

Hi all,
We have now raised the US$3,000 needed to cover the costs involved in migrating this forum to a new platform. Thanks to everyone for their support!
I am now hoping that the work can be done during October and that we will have the forum migrated either by November, or December, this year. I will put announcements here to update everyone on progress. |
